Important Excel shortcuts - Part 1

Hey! If you are a fashion grad seeking to learn excel but aren't aware of what to learn exactly, such as specific shortcuts or functions that will actually help you make your work easier during your day to day work, then this blog post is for you. So, let's start without further ado:

Navigation Keyboard Shortcuts
 

1.      Go to Previous Worksheet: Ctrl + Page Up

2.      Go to Next Worksheet: Ctrl + Page Down

3.      Go to Cell A1: Ctrl + Home

4.      Go to Last Cell Used: Ctrl + End

5.      Select to the End of the Row: Shift + Ctrl + Right Arrow

6.      Select to the End of the Column: Shift + Ctrl + Down Arrow

7.      Open Help: Alt + Y + 1 + H

8.      Display or Hide the Ribbon: Alt + Z + R +(S/ H)

9.      Display the Print Preview Area: Alt + F + V or Ctrl + F2


Other Important Keyboard Shortcuts

1.      To find and replace dialog box: Ctrl + H

2.      Filter: Ctrl + Shift + L or Alt + Down arrow

3.      Remove Filter: Alt + D + F + F

4.      Creates Pivot Table: Alt +N, V, T

5.      Auto sum selected cells: Alt+= 

6.      Freeze Header: Alt + W+ F + R

7.      Freeze/ Unfreeze panes: Alt + W + F + F

8.      Freezes only the leftmost column: Alt + W + F + C

9.      Paste Special: CTRL + Alt + V

10.  Format Cell Dialog box: Ctrl+ 1

11.  Repeat Previous Step: F4

12.  When used within a formula, it cycles through different types of cell references (absolute, relative, and mixed): F4

13.  Find & Replace: Ctrl + H

14.  Current Date: Ctrl +;

15.  Current Time: Ctrl + Shift +:

16.  Copy a formula from the cell above into the active cell:  Ctrl + ‘

17.  Check Formula: Ctrl + `

18.  Permanently Del: Alt + Enter

19.  Comment: Shift + F2

20.  To delete the comment: Shift + F10 + D

21.  Select Column: Ctrl + Space

22.  Add Column: Ctrl + Shift + Plus

23.  Subtract Column: Ctrl + Shift + Minus

24.  Select Row: Shift + Space

25.  Add Row: Ctrl+ Shift + Plus

26.  Subtract Row: Ctrl + Shift + Minus

27.  Insert dialog :  Shift+ Ctrl + Plus

28.  To apply the same contents or formula in all the cells you initially select: Ctrl + Enter

29.  Flash fill: Ctrl + E

30.  Auto Space for the column: Alt + H + O + I

31.  Hide Column: Ctrl + 0

32.  Hide Row: Ctrl +9

33.  Split sheet: Alt + W + S

34.  To apply the currency format: Ctrl + Shift + $

35.  To apply the percent format: Ctrl + Shift + %

36.  To group rows or columns: Alt + Shift + Right arrow

37.  To ungroup rows or columns: Alt + Shift + Left arrow

38.  To add border: Alt + H + B
